MIX-m - Curatorial introduction by Interversion Simon Lamunière

MIX-m - Interversion Simon Lamunière's WORK

This project has two main goals:
extend the usual physical museum spaces and produce artist projects within this new context.
For this purpose we propose artistic installations in the Batiment d’art contemporain in Geneva as well as in an abstract 3d model. The five artists invited, have created artworks specifically for this 2-sided context. Their projects are to be seen in both physical and virtual spaces.
Our proposal is to develop an experimental tool, where the two usually seperated contexts can be thought simultaneously. Museums have to deal with information technologies and vice versa.
The development of a 3d online architectural model is also intended to facilitate a more continuous physical visit between digital artworks and (in the future) representations of physical artworks. In this way relations between projects may be more intense than through the usual web lists and links navigation.
Finally, this extended architecture and the projects within are also presented inside the Batiment d’art contemporain. The display is taking in consideration the ordinary physical exhibition context. Each artwork being displayed individually.
Simon Lamunière founded Interversion in 2001.
He is curator of MIX-m.org and also of: Art Unlimited, mudam.lu, documenta X, Version, etc.
